Bouwer, Jaco was born in South Africa in 1973. He studied Engineering at the University of Stellenbosch before switching to Theater. Jaco has since worked as an actor and director in theater, TV, and film, often tackling controversial topics and seeking to expose the artificial barriers that exist between and within cultures. His shorts include the award-winning I Love You Jet Li, Balbesit, and this country is lonely. His first feature film Gaia had its world premiere at SXSW.
