Beyto is a terrific swimmer and everybody’s cool buddy. But as the young Swiss man with Turkish roots falls in love with his handsome coach Mike, his perfect world seems to fall apart. For Beyto’s parents there is only one solution to maintain the tradition and honor of their family: He has to marry a woman as soon as possible! They lure their son into their Turkish home village and organize a wedding with Beyto’s childhood friend Seher. All of a sudden, Beyto finds himself in the middle of a devastating love triangle: How can he stand by Mike without destroying Seher’s future?
Based on a novel by the award-winning writer Yusuf Yesilöz, Swiss director Gitta Gsell tells a multicultural story of love and emancipation – full of empathy, sensuality and summer feelings. Alongside Swiss Movie Award winner Dimitri Stapfer, the two newcomers Burak Ates and Ecem Aydin shine in their first leading roles.

In order to maintain the family’s honor and traditions, he has to get married to a woman as soon as possible. Forced into marriage with his childhood friend Seher, Beyto finds himself in the middle of a devastating love triangle. While he wants to be in a committed relationship with Mike, he doesn’t want to destroy Seher’s future by leaving her. Director Gitta Gsell turned the original novel “Hochzeitsflug” by the award-winning writer Yusuf Yesilöz into a movie and created an empathetic, sensual, and intercultural story about love and emancipation.

de Als Beyto, ein junger Schweizer mit türkischen Wurzeln, ein talentierter Schwimmer und Everybody’s Darling, sich in seinen Trainer Mike verliebt, scheint seine perfekte Welt auseinanderzufallen. Um die Ehre seiner Familie retten und die Traditionen fortführen zu können, muss er so schnell wie möglich eine Frau heiraten. Beyto sieht sich gezwungen Seher, eine alte Kindheitsfreundin, zu heiraten. Gefangen in einem verheerenden Liebesdreieck will Beyto zwar mit Mike eine Beziehung führen, jedoch nicht Sehers Zukunft zerstören, indem er sie verlässt. Regisseurin Gitta Gsell adaptierte den Roman „Hochzeitsflug“ von dem preisgekrönten Schriftsteller Yusuf Yesilöz für ihren Film und schuf eine einfühlsame, sinnliche und interkulturelle Geschichte über Liebe und Emanzipation.
