Emre Akay
has written, directed, edited, and produced several successful Turkish films, starting with his first two short films shot on super 8 (Proxemic, Breaking Point, both in 2001), which got selected for numerous festivals. Since then Akay’s short films have been screened in more than 40 festivals around the world. In 2004 he cowrote, coproduced, and codirected his first feature A Film By Tuğra Kaftancıoğlu, which reached a wide audience when it was voted all-time second favorite film at the !f Istanbul 2013 and shown at the IKSV Film Festival in the 100th Anniversary of Turkish Cinema Retrospective. His international breakthrough came with two Arte France collaborations: the documentaries Always Forward (2005) and A Knot in My Bosphorus (2010).
