AMSTERDAM is the only initiative in the Netherlands that focuses solely on promoting Dutch film talent, connecting aspiring
filmmakers with established professionals.

Shortcutz
Amsterdam is a platform for new Dutch filmmakers. We have weekly screenings at ‘de kring’, where we screen two short films
in competition from new Dutch film talent (each team does a Q&A afterwards). We also receive a special guest, someone
established in the industry, to share their knowledge with the ones who are starting out.
At the end of each month, a jury team selects their favourite movie as the winner of the month. Our jury team is composed of actor Rutger Hauer (Blade Runner); producer Jan Harlan (The Shining), director Hany Abu-Assad (The Mountain Between Us), director Roel Reiné (Marvel's Inhumans); actress Willeke van Ammelrooy (Antonia's Line); actor Tygo Gernandt (Van God Los); director Eddy Terstall (Simon); producer Pieter Kuijpers (Van God Los); Marina Blok, Head of Drama ntr; actor Vincent van Ommen (Amsterdam Heavy), Nederlands Film Festival programmer Claire van Daal; EYE senior programmer and head of acquisitions René Wolf, actress Sigrid ten Napel (Penoza), and street-artist Laser 3.14.
We also give the audience the opportunity to help us choose the best in upcoming Dutch talent. For our Audience Award, we tour with our compilation of 7 short films (Winners of the Month), from December until the 17th of January, in more than 20 cities and 4 different continents.
To organise this screenings we have teamed up with epic partners such as: Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Broet, Cinesud, Dutch Centre, Dutch Film Days Vienna, Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Japan, FeldKino Berlin, Film Platform Rotterdam, Gelders DOEK, NewFilmmakers Los Angeles, Shortcutz cities: Berlin, Figueira da Foz, Funchal, Guimarães, Lisboa, Porto, Santa Catarina and The Bioscope Independent Cinema.
HOW IT WORKS
After screening the 7 films nominated for Best Film of the Year, every member of the audience is given a coupon to vote for their favourite movie. Shortcutz collects all the votes from all the participant cities (national and international) and announces the overall winner at the 6th Shortcutz Amsterdam Annual Awards - January 20th, 20:00 (CET) at EYE 1 (Dutch Film Museum). This gala will be streamed live on Shortcutz Amsterdam Facebook page.

20.30 - Screening of short films w/ hosting by Hilal Arda & Denis
